Eastern winds danced like a broken dam;
the thatched roof fell apart
the dry sun penetrated and
painted my skin with its yellow,
blinded my eyes with its bright orange

My sight jolted, at that nanosecond,
he sneaked into the fresco walls
through the open roof,
unaware of his presence,
I ran to fix the broken roof,
hours of drained energy
fixed the fragile dome-
a sigh of relief

Pacified breath paced hard;
I saw him- face to face,
his gruesome eyes made a blatant stare,
that gaze felt like an organism
from the other world
creeping into my soul in a steady phase

My sinking mind felt the aversion,
get rid of him real quick,
my kind heart turned cruel this time,
I ran to reach the spray

Don’t waste time-
Press the nozzle soon,
my inner self urged me.

I heard something,
a low hissing voice whispered,
Please don’t press it,
I don’t want to die soon.

Rolling my eyes, I wondered,
Who spoke in this empty living room?

It’s me, Look here,
Can you hear me?
His shaken voice called

I watched right into his face,
it was him; he begged for his life.

Mighty Ugly Creeper,
you’ll creep into me,
make me fall in bed,
and who knows,
you will toll my life

If I show mercy, I will be no more,
I’m going to kill you, little devil

Stop, stop, please spare me,
I’m not here to take your life,
he spoke without
stopping for breath

What?

I dragged thinking for a while to answer him

Why you are here?

I inquired him

I came for shelter,
don’t stampede me,
he begged one last time
hoping to live a little longer

Alright, you can camp here but,
only till the hurricane leaves the city,
I bullied that scary bug

He nodded,
I winked at him and
he smiled back.
